Two Night Stay Itinerary

Book a stay at The Alma Inn and explore the picturesque Colne and the surrounding areas. Below is our suggested itinerary to make the most of your stay in the beautiful Pendle countryside

Day One

We suggest you start your day by taking to the outdoors by visiting Wycoller Village and Country Park. The village dates back to the 15th century when it was a sheep farming and weaving community. However, the industrial age eventually led to the town’s decline. The village has since been revitalized and has many points of interest.

You can then climb the hillside within the park to visit the ATOM art installation. This striking spherical painted cement piece provides an interesting juxtaposition of modern art nestled within this historic countryside. You can enter this hollow round installation art piece and enjoy the different points of view and perspectives from each circular frame.

Head out of the park to the Wycoller Craft Centre, which offers afternoon tea set in a cozy and warm environment. This former cow dairy was converted in the 1980s and all the cakes and scones they offer are freshly made in-house. They also have traditional dishes such as Lancashire pie and mushy peas.

Day Two

Located in nearby Thornton-in-Craven, Thornton Hall Country Park is a great day out for the family. Aside from animal encounters within this countryside locale, families can explore the Wizzick Farm Safari with guided tours and children can ride on tractors, glide down the 18ft Wizzick slide and let loose in the giant sandpit.

If you want to take a break from the outdoor scenery of the region, complete your visit with a trip to Boundary Mill Stores. This outlet store offers womenswear, menswear and homeware brand names at discounts up to 70% off. When you need a break from shopping, you can have afternoon tea at Mrs B’s within Boundary Mill.

You can finish off your stay with a trip to our sister restaurant in Fence, Forest. The restaurant has a Mediterranean twist, where you can dine al fresco dining, or you can sit indoors in our contemporary yet inviting dining room.
