Wycoller Country Park

Just over 2 miles from the Alma Inn is the pretty hamlet of Wycoller. Part of the Country Park, Wycoller is most famous for its Bronte connection. Today Wycoller Hall stands in ruins but the Hall was believed to have been the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte’s novel, ‘Jane Eyre’. The ruins stand next to Wycoller Beck, which flows through the village and can be crossed by 7 ancient bridges, the oldest dating back 1000 years. A beautiful location to spend a few hours outdoors.

Atom - Wycoller

Resting on the hillside atop Wycoller Village, this striking spherical painted cement piece provides a modern addition to the the historic countryside. You can enter this round installation art piece and enjoy the sides from different points of view and perspectives from each circular frame.

Boulesworth Hill

Boulesworth Hill is a large expanse of moorland and the highest point of the South Pennines. On a clear day it is possible to see Scafell Pike and Helvellyn to the north. The underlying rock is Millstone Grit and the hill is covered by acidic grassland, making it a great location to spot wildlife such as red grouse.

Kilnsey Park

A 45 minute drive from The Alma Inn, Kilnsey Park offers wonderful views of the ponds and the Wharfdale scenery behind beautifully landscaped grounds. Spend time watching fly-fishers catching trout and take in the waterfalls and rare wild flowers in the nature reserve.
