There are plenty of places to explore close to The Alma Inn, which is located on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. Market towns, country parks, local landmarks and outdoor activities are all within easy reach.

Land Rover Experience

Located 2 miles outside of Skipton on the Broughton Hall Estate, the Land Rover Experience provides the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a Land over and head off-road. There are various activities on offer, including half and full day experiences, treks and taster introductions.

Wycoller Country Park

Just over 2 miles from the Alma Inn is the pretty hamlet of Wycoller. Part of the country park, Wycoller is most famous for its Bronte connection. Today Wycoller Hall stands in ruins but the Hall was believed to have been the inspiration for Charlotte Bronte’s novel, ‘Jane Eyre’. The ruins of the hall stand next to Wycoller Beck, which flows through the village and can be crossed by 7 ancient bridges, the oldest dating back 1000 years. A beautiful location to spend a few hours outdoors.

Thornton Hall Country Park

Located in nearby Thornton-in-Craven, this country park is a great day out for the family. Aside from animal encounters within this countryside locale, families can explore the Wizzick Farm Safari with guided tours and children can ride on tractors, glide down the 18ft Wizzick sand and let loose in the giant sandpit.

Skipton

It’s easy to spend a day in the historic market town of Skipton with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. The Leeds to Liverpool canal runs through Skipton and a skippered canal boat trip is a great way to see the town and enjoy an afternoon tea in the fresh air. The award-winning Skipton market operates 4 days a week with stalls set up along the high street selling everything from cheeses to scarves, and local meat to arts & crafts. A 25 minute drive from The Alma Inn.
